Smoothies are the easiest and most scrumptious way to pack in nutrients into a fun, kid friendly and tasty treat. The possibilities are endless when you focus on seasonal produce.
Hot tip: Buy bananas in bulk when they are on sale and always keep a stash peeled in your freezer for a quick easy refreshing snack any time of day. Bananas don’t have to be frozen but add an extra chilled creamy element to your smoothie. If your bananas aren’t frozen, no worries, you can just add ice.
Smoothies are particularly great for fussy eaters. Using fortified plant milk is a great way to give that extra boost of calcium, vitamin D, zinc, iron, B12 and more. Check the nutrition panel and get the best nutritional value for your milk. Add hemp seeds before blending and use some extra for garnish. Hemp seeds have a nutty flavour and are high in easily digestible omega 3,6 and 9 essential fatty acids, fibre and protein. Bananas are a great source of energy, vitamin C, potassium, magnesium and folate. A gift from mother earth. Simple, delicious and nutritious.
